World Menopause Day with Emepelle

Friday 18th October 2019 marks World Menopause Day, to raise awareness of the impact menopause can have on women's everyday lives. As a skincare clinician at the age of 46, I'm never one to turn down a new product or treatment to help tackle the signs of ageing and at the beginning of June, I was asked to trial a new brand launched by our friends over at Aestheticare. How does menopause affect skin?

Before, during and after the menopause, estrogen levels start to fall, and continue to diminish even further as we age. The symptoms can start months or years before the menopause actually begins.Did you know that estrogen plays a vital role in skin's health and appearance? Estrogen is responsible for helping to maintain optimal moisture retention so skin stays supple and hydrated. The hormone also activates skin cells that are responsible for producing collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid - three VERY important skin components.Low levels of estrogen cause skin to age quicker than in any other stage of a woman's life. Estrogen Deficient Skin (EDS) causes dryness, laxity, wrinkling and dullness in the epidermis.

How does MEP Technology work?
